Unwatch vs Eightify, NoteGPT and Glasp: an honest comparison

Prices, features and a code test on the same 25-minute video, with where each tool is better. Checked on 20 October 2026.

Full disclosure: I build Unwatch. I took every price and feature from each product's own pages and screens on 20 October 2026, and I ran the same code-heavy video through all four tools and compared the output with what is actually on screen. Where a competitor is better, I say so. Prices and features change often, so check before you buy.

The test: one code video, three tools

I used a 25-minute Python video, Scraping Data from a Real Website by Alex The Analyst, and looked at three things that appear on screen in the video:

url = 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_companies_in_the_United_States_by_revenue'
page = requests.get(url)
soup = BeautifulSoup(page.text, 'html')

What came back:

  • Eightify wrote requests.get(url) correctly, but 'html.parser' where the screen shows 'html'. The Wikipedia URL wasn't in the summary.
  • NoteGPT (free web tool, Basic mode) wrote response = requests.get(URL) and "html.parser". The URL wasn't there either. It did include several correct snippets, such as find_all('table', class_='wikitable sortable') and index=False.
  • Glasp gave high-level bullets with timestamps. They name find_all, td and index=False, with no setup code and no URL.

Unwatch gave all three lines exactly as shown, because it reads the screen as well as the audio. You can check this on the sample lesson.

Limits of this test: one video, one run per tool, free tiers or trials. A different video or a paid mode could do better. Their pages don't say they read on-screen code, and I can't say they never do. All I can say is what these outputs contained.

Where the others are better

  • They live inside YouTube. Eightify and Glasp add a panel next to the video, and Eightify, Glasp and NoteGPT have browser extensions. Unwatch is a website: you paste a link.
  • Mobile apps. Eightify and Glasp have iOS and Android apps. Unwatch has none.
  • More languages for the output. Eightify's Pro plan translates to 40+ languages and NoteGPT offers 60+. Unwatch writes lessons in English only (it accepts videos in any language).
  • A bigger toolbox. NoteGPT also does slides, voices, mind maps and more. Glasp has social highlights and a free Notion sync.
  • Track record. Eightify claims 500,000+ users and Glasp 2,000,000+. Unwatch is new and built by one person.
  • A faster glance. If you only want to know whether a video is worth watching, a short summary in the YouTube page is quicker than reading a lesson.

Where Unwatch is different

  • A lesson, not a summary. It follows the whole video in order, so you can learn from it instead of watching.
  • Code and on-screen text. Code, URLs and terminal output shown on screen are copied as text. I measured the effect separately in why summarisers miss code.
  • Playlists become courses, with progress tracking, a tutor that knows the video, quizzes with explanations, flashcards and study notes.
  • Rupee pricing and an Own Key option. You can use your own Gemini key and pay only for the app.

Honest gaps: it's web-only, the free allowance is small, it's for users 18 and over, and it works on public videos only.

Which should you pick?

  • You want a quick summary while browsing YouTube: Eightify or Glasp's extension.
  • You want one tool for many kinds of content (summaries, slides, audio): NoteGPT.
  • You highlight and keep notes from the web, PDFs and videos: Glasp.
  • You learn from long tutorials and lectures, especially with code or whole playlists: Unwatch.

You can try Unwatch free, with no card, and compare it against whichever tool you use now. If your result differs from mine, I'd like to hear it.

Try it on a code-heavy video.

Paste any public YouTube video or playlist. Your lesson is ready in a few minutes.
